Is this Hadith reliable?
Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, “Do not overburden yourselves, lest difficulties be imposed on you. People overburden themselves and perished. Their remains are found in hermitages and monasteries”
Answer
Imam Abu Dawud, Imam Abu Ya’la and other Muhaddithun have recorded this narration.
(Sunan Abi Dawud, 4868, Musnad Abu Ya’la, Hadith: 3694)
‘Allamah Haythami (rahimahullah) has declared the narrators reliable and Imam Busiri (rahimahullah) has declared the chain of Abu Ya’la authentic (sahih).
