Is this Hadith reliable?
Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
“If anyone forgets that he is fasting and eats or drinks he should complete his fast [for the fast does not break], for it is only Allah Who has fed him and given him drink”
Answer:
Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim (rahimahumallah) have recorded this narration on the authority of Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu).
The Hadith is therefore authentic.
(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 1933, 6669 and Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 1155)
