Another virtue of granting respite to a debtor or waiving of the debt

Is the following narration reliable?

“Whoever grants respite to someone in difficulty or relieves him of his debt Allah will shade him on the Day of Qiyamah when there is no shade but his”

Answer

Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration on the authority of of Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu). He has declared the Hadith authentic.

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 1306)

Imam Muslim (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration with the words “Whoever grants respite to someone in difficulty or relieves him of his debt Allah will shade him on the Day of Qiyamah”

(Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 3006)
