The Muadhin receives the reward of all the attendees

Is there a Hadith that suggests that the Muadhin gets the reward of everyone attending the congregation?

Answer

Imam Nasai and Imam Ahmad (rahimahumallah) have recorded the following narration on the authority of Sayyiduna Bara ibn ‘Azib (radiyallahu ‘anhu):

“Allah Ta’ala showers special mercy upon those in the first row [of Salah] and the Angels make du’a of forgiveness for them. The Muadhin will receive forgiveness for the distance his voice travels. Every [living or dead] creature will bear testimony on his behalf [on the Day of Qiyamah], and he will receive the reward of all those people who performed Salah with him (all those who attended the Salah due to his Adhan).

(Sunan Nasai; Al Mujtaba, Hadith: 646 and Musnad Ahmad, vol. 4 pg. 284. Also see Hashiyatus Sindhi ‘Ala Musnadil Imam Ahmad)

‘Allamah Mundhiri (rahimahullah) has declared the chain of narrators sound (hasan)

(Targhib, vol. 1 pg. 176)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
