Is It Permissible To Talk to a Female Therapist Over Texts

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulIftaBirmingham

Question

Salam, I had to talk to a female therapist over texts, is this haram?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

If a male therapist is not available and you are in an extreme and dire situation then it will be permissible for you to get medical help from a female therapist [i].

One should be clear in mind not to use this as an excuse for unnecessary talk as that may lead one towards fitnah. [ii]
