Meaning of the Hadith regarding Quran recital

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

The Hadith which states that if the Quran occupies a person in such a manner that he is unable to make dua then Allah Ta’ala gives that person better than what he gives the one who asked.

Does this mean that if a person is primarily occupied with Quran and doesnt get time for dua and istighfar, the recitation of Quran will cover up for that?

Answer

One should endeavour to engage in all forms of worship.

However, when one is occupied in Quran recital, and for that day he doesn’t get time to engage in du’a, then -just as the Hadith Qudsi promises- his Quran recital will indeed cover up for not engaging in du’a and istighfar etc.

It is also important to note, that one’s level of concentration and devotion to the Quran is crucial to the course…
