Sa’id ibn Zayd (radiyallahu ‘anhu) is part of the ‘Asharah Mubassharah

Please cite the narration which mentions Sayyiduna Sa’id ibn Zayd to be part of the ‘Asharah Mubassharah [The ten Sahabah given glad tidings of Jannah] and is it authentic?

Answer

The ten Sahabah (radiyallahu ‘anhum) who were given glad tidings of Jannah in one sitting are all mentioned in one Hadith. Sayyiduna Sa’id ibn Zayd (radiyallahu ‘anhu) is part of the ten.

Sayyiduna Sa’id ibn Zayd (radiyallahu ‘anhu) is also a narrator of this Hadith. Out of humility he did not mention his own name. However, when questioned regarding the tenth name, he mentioned his own name.

This Hadith has been recorded in several Hadith collections with authentic/sound chains. Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) has declared one version authentic (Hadith: 3757). Imam Ibn Hibban (rahimahullah) has also declared the Hadith authentic.

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 3747-3748-3757, Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith: 4617-4618, Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 133, Musnad Ahmad, vol. 1 pg. 188, Sahih Ibn Hibban; Al Ihsan, Hadith: 6993-7002. Also see footnotes of Shaykh Muhammad ‘Awwamah on Musannaf, Hadith: 32609)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
