Woman bleeding for less than 3 days, and then not seeing blood for a month

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Fatwaa.com

Assalamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu Mufti Sahab,

“Is working in a winery or a “salumificio” (a place in which pork-meat “salami” is produced) permissible for a Muslim? I’m not asking regarding the actual manufacturing/production of haram foods and drinks, but rather for example working as deliverer, ware-houseman or office worker/employee..”

Answer

Wa’alaykum as Salām wa raḥmatullāhi wa barakātuhu,

To deliver wine will not be permissible at all, since there is a clear prohibition regarding this in the Ahadith of the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him). In a narration of Sunan at-Tirmidhi, the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said: “Allāh has cursed wine, its drinker, its server, its seller, its buyer, its carrier, its presser, the one for whom it is pressed, the one who conveys it, and the one to whom it is conveyed”. (Sunan Tirmidhi)

However, the delivery of pork will be permissible, since a person is being paid for his action of delivery. Likewise, to work as a warehouseman or office worker/employee will also be permissible.

This is due to the fact that you are being paid due to making yourself available to carry out work, not for the actual work itself. Thus, you are being paid for your time which you dedicated to the store to carry out whatever work you are asked to do.

Hence, even though the actual act of scanning the alcohol or delivering Ḥarām food is not appropriate, the income will still be Ḥalāl. However, while continuing your employment at the store where you are asked to perform such actions, you should preferably still actively look for employment where you do not have to deal with Ḥarām at all.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best

Wassalaam,

Ismail Moosa (Mufti)
