Asalamualaikum,
In Ramadan a few years ago I saw my friends opening their fast for iftar and I saw that my mum had not opened her fast yet and she was waiting a bit longer. I knew that my friends might not know the proper timing for iftar and my mum knows it, but I still opened my fast with them. I also noticed that it was roughly dark outside although I had not confirmed if the sun had set. Do I have to do kaffarah?
Answer:
Wa’alaykum as Salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,
If you friends were matured adults who knew how to determine the sunset time, then you should just keep one Qadha as a precaution.
There is no need for Kaffarah.
And Allaah Ta’aala knows best
Wassalaam,
