Fast breaking

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Fatwaa.com

Initially when I would make wudhu I would be certain that water is entering my mouth, I am intentionally swallowing it and my fast is breaking Then when I cook I am certain that the ingredients  are  entering my mouth, I am intentionally swallowing it and my fast is breaking When I use to walk outside I use to be certain that particles from the air were entering my mouth I was swallowing it and my fast was breaking When I wash dishes I am certain that water is splashing in my mouth I am swallowing the water and my fast is breaking Now I have acid reflux burps everyday and I am certain that vomit less then a mouthful is entering my mouth in a way that I can spit the vomit out but I  swallow the vomit intentionally… is my fast broken and will my fast be broken if I continue to do the above in the future? I have that card board airfreshner in my car, whenever I am driving I am certain that my wet lips are touching the air freshener, the liquid from the cardboard airfeshener is going into my mouth and I am swallowing it Is my fast valid in the above mentioned situations?

Answer

Wa’alaykum as Salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

You did mention to us previously that you had an assessment and the psychologist confirmed that you have a form of OCD. Do not pay any attention to any of those doubts.

As for Wudhu, do not gargle or rinse your mouth or nose whilst fasting. When making Wudhu, after washing your wrist, immediately wash your face.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best
