Mixing verses of the quran in salat

If a person makes a mistake while reciting the verses of the Holy Quran in salat and he recites one verse – whether from the same Surah or another Surah – in the place of another verse; the ruling in regards to this is that if he had done a complete waqf (stop) at the end of the previous verse (i.e. the verse just before the wrong verse), his salat will be valid. If he did not do a complete waqf (stop) at the end of the previous verse and instead recited both the verses together (i.e. with wasl) then there are two possible scenarios: if the meaning of the first verse did not change due to the second verse, his salat will be valid and there will be no need to repeat the salat, nor will he have to do sajda sahwu. On the other hand, if the meaning of the first verse did change due to the second verse then his salat will become invalid and he will have to repeat the salat.

في فتاوى قاضيخان: وإن ذكر آية مكان آية إن وقف على الأولى وقفاً تاماً وابتدا بالثانية لا تفسد صلاته كما لو قرأ والتين والزيتون ووقف ثم ابتدأ لقد خلقنا الإنسان في كبد لا تفسد صلاته وكذا لو قرأ إن الذين آمنوا وعملوا الصالحات ووقف ثم قرأ أولئك هم شر البرية وإن لم يقف وقرأ موصولاً إن لم تتغير الأولى بالثانية كما لو قرأ إن الذين آمنوا وعملوا الصالحات فلهم جزاء الحسنى أو قرأ وجوه يومئذٍ عليها غبرة أولئك هم الكافرون حقاً لا تفسد صلاته وإن تغير المعنى بأن قرأ إن الأبرار لفي جحيم وإن الفجار لفي نعيم أو قرأ إن الذين آمنوا وعملوا الصالحات أولئك هم شر البرية أو قرأ وجوه يومئذٍ عليها غبرة أولئك هم المؤمنون حقاً تفسد صلاته لأنه أخبر بخلاف ما أخبر الله تعالى به وقال بعضهم لا تفسد صلاته لعموم البلوى والأول أصح ( فتاوى قاضيخان: 1/139 ، دار الكتب العلمية )

In salat, after making a mistake in the recitation of the Quran that necessitates repeating the salat, if the person while still in the same salat corrects the mistake and recites the verses correctly, his salat will be valid and there will be no need to repeat it.
