Working in a supermarket

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulUloomTT.net

Q. Is it permissible for a Muslim to work in a supermarket that sells non-halal meat? Would their income be halal considering this is not the only product sold?

A. No, it is not permissible to work in a supermarket that sells non-halal meats. The income received will be mixed with haram wealth, and this is not permissible in Islam.

You should try to look for another work, but in the mean time (as long as you do not get one) you can work in the supermarket. While doing so, you should continue to beg Allah for His forgiveness, and give out to the poor and needy a percentage of your salary that is proportionate to the sales of the non Halal meats when compared to the total income of the supermarket.

And Allah knows best.
