Changing the attendance register of a person

Answered according to Hanafi Fiqh by DarulUloomTT.net

Q. 1) If a person is on his way or intending to come to class, can we mark him present on the attendance register, just to save his time, although he was on his way to class or had intended to attend that class?

2) If a person is not feeling well can we mark him present even though he did not come to class, but the attendence is important for allowing us to sit in the exams?

A. 1) No, it will not be allowed to mark him present when he is absent. This amounts to lying.

2) No, this also is not permissible, since, it is not the truth. An excuse from the person will be able to help him/her write the exams.

And Allah knows best.
