Position with salaah and fasting if menses go beyond 10 days

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulUloomTT.net

Question:
Assalamu alaikum,
I would like to ask if a woman is having an unusually long period of her menses( more than 10 days) and it is now very light and brown in color, is she still considered ‘unclean’ or can she start fasting and praying? Any advice that you can offer will be greatly appreciated as she is worried of missing too many fasts and salaah in this month of Ramadhan. Jazakallah Khair.

Answer:
Wa Alaikum As Salaam,
After the passing of 10 days, she must begin to fast and perform salaah. The flow of blood after 10 days is Istihadha (abnormal bleeding) and it would not prevent the woman from salaah and fast.
And Allah knows best
