Q. I was told that there is a Dua to recite to calm the animal for Qurbani? If this is true, what is the Dua?
A. We do not know of any specific dua for this purpose. However, in the book ‘Aamaale Quraani’ the following has been mentioned:-
‘If any beast of burden refuses to allow someone mounting it or it shows stubborness, one should recite the following verse three times and blow into its ear. Insha- Allah it will become obedient. The verse is:-
“A-faghaira deenillahi Yabghoon wa lahu Aslama man fis Samawati wal Ard Taw’an wa karhan wa ilaihi Yurja’oon”. (Sura Ale Imran (3) verse 83).
‘Do they seek a religion other than the Religion of Allah while all the creatures in the heavens and earth have willingly and unwillingly submitted to his will’. (Aamaale Quraani pg. 52-54).
