Sajdatut Tilaawah (Prostration of Recitation)

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulUloomTT.net

Assalam u alaikun

How is the sajda recognized when reciting the quran? Is it by a saad?

Also how do we perform the sajda and what do we say?

Wa Alaikum As Salaam,

Wherever there is a Sajdah in the Quran, next to it on the side of the page you will see the word ‘Sajdah’ written in Arabic.

In order to perform the Sajda, you must go straight down into Sajda posture. If you are standing, you can go down from this posture, and if you are sitting, you can also go in Sajda from the sitting posture. There is no specific recital in this posture. Just remain for a short while.

And Allah Knows Best.
