Converning Taraweeh Salaah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulUloomTT.net

Question:

In the Taraweeh Salaat, the Imam forgetfully left out the “لا” of the word of the first Sajda in the 30th Juz. Will this nullify the Salaat? If the Imam performs the Sajda Tilawat, woud it compensate for the mistake? What if the Ayat is read over, would the Salaat become proper? Does he have to perform another Sajda?

Answer:

In this case, by omitting the “لا” the meaning of the word is changed. Such change that has taken place in the meaning is one of those mistakes that cause the Salaat to become null and void. And as such this Salaat has become invalid.

However, if the mistake is rectified by reading the ayat again, then the Salaat would become proper, and another Sajda would not be Wajib. By mere performance of the Sajda Tilawat the mistake would not be rectified.
