Is It Permissible To Pray on the Sand at a Beach or on the Grass at a Park?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulIftaBirmingham

Answered by: Maulana Yusuf Khan

Question:

Is it permissible to pray on the sand at a beach or on the grass at a park?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

Praying on any terrain is permissible as long as there is no impurity present.

Therefore, praying on grass, sand etc is allowed as long as that area is free from impurities.

Sometimes when praying in a park, it is necessary to be careful as animals may have walked that path and urinated. As long as one ensures the area is clean they can pray there.

Only Allah knows best
