Question:
Does anyone know what to pray upon seeing a church (or another building) in which the community is praying to change into a masjid? I’ve heard some text along the lines of Kalimah Shahaadah but not sure of the exact words or their origin. Jazakallah

Answer:
There has been nothing specific transmitted from the Qur’an or Ahadith regarding this according to our knowledge. However, by the Grace of Allah Azzawajjal, there are many opportunities we can take in order to maximize our duaas being accepted. Such as: make dua for the acquisition of this building in the last third of the night[1], after the 5 daily salahs[2], between the adhan and the iqaamah[3], when the rain falls[4], between Asr and Maghrib on the day of Jumuah[5], in sajdah [6], and by making the dua of Yunus [a]- [7]:
لا اله الّا انت سبحانك انّي كنت من الظالمين (٢١:٨٧)
May Allah SubhanahuwaTa’ala grant your community a Masjid soon.
