Can One Complete His Prayer Behind a Masbooq

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulIftaBirmingham

Question

I missed the prayers in the congregation but met someone who missed part of the same prayer making up for what he had missed. Please can I join him and later complete what I missed. If I do, is my prayer valid as someone who prayed behind an Imam?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

A person who prayed part of his prayer (Masbooq) with an Imaam cannot be followed in the prayer. Thus, you cannot join him. [See: Fatawa Alamghiree, vol: 1, Page: 123, Publisher: Bangladesh Taj Company Ltd.]
