Question
What is the position of a Hanafi who performs his Witr Salah in the month of Ramadhan behind a Shaafi’ee Imaam:
- Will the Hanafi’s Salah be valid or will he have to repeat it?
- What is the position of the Salah of a Shafi’ee if the situation is reversed?

Answer:
It is valid if there is no salam in between. If there is a salam in between then it is not valid. It would be valid for a Shafi if the situation is reversed and the muqtadi is a Shafi while the imam is a Hanafi leading witr (Ibn Abideen, Radd al-Muhtar, vol. 4, pg. 440).
