RAMADHAN THE MONTH OF FORGIVENESS

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulUloomTT.net

QUESTION:

As Salaamu  Wa Alaikum,

Will a believer be forgiven for committing suicide in the month of Ramadan as this is considered to be a month when Allah is most forgiving?

ANSWER:

Wa Alaikum As Salaam,

The Holy Quran states, ‘Certainly Allah does not forgive that Shirk be committed with Him, but He forgives whatever is besides that for whomsoever He wishes’ (Sura An Nisa Verse 48).

The above verse tells us that all other sins besides Shirk can be forgiven by Allah. As such, suicide being a grave sin can also be forgiven by Allah, especially in this blessed month of Ramadhan, since it is not Shirk.

And Allah Knows best
