Question

Can a Muslim eat at a non-Muslim friend’s house knowing that they consume pork? What is the ruling in Islam?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

It is not haram to eat with non-Muslims but the following should be kept in mind.

  1. There should be no alcohol served on the same table.

It is narrated from Umar bin al-Khattab that messenger of Allah said;- Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him not sit at a table where alcohol is being passed around.[i]

  1. Men and women should not be mixed in one place.

    3. Food should be halal.

So, if these rules are met you can eat with non-Muslims.

Only Allah knows best.
