Question

It is mentioned in a Hadith that a person who reads Ayatul Kursi after every Fard Salah, only death is keeping him away from Jannah. Does it mean that this person will enter Jannah as soon as he dies? But I knew that everybody will enter Jannah on the Day of Judgement and nobody will enter before that. Does this person have to pass the life of Barzakh?

In the name of Allah the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Answer:

Everyone will pass the stage of Barzakh.

The first evidence is that Allah (SWT) states in the Quran: “Until, when death comes to one of them, he says: My Lord! Send me back, so that I might do righteousness in that which I left behind.” No! It is only a word he is saying, and behind them is a barrier [Barzakh] until the Day they are resurrected.” [Surah Mu’minoon: 99-100]

The second evidence is that It was narrated that Hani the freed slave of Uthman bin Affan (r.a), said: The Messenger of Allah(PBUH) said: “The grave is the first stage of the Hereafter. Whoever is delivered from it, what comes after it is easier. If he is not delivered from it, then what comes after it is harder.’” He said that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: “I have never seen any horrible scene but the grave is more horrible.” [Tirmidhi: 2307, Ibn Majah: 4267]

However, the Hadith mentioned about the virtue of Ayatul Kursi is regarded as weak.[i]

Only Allah knows best.
