Question
My relative lives in Canada and I live in Pakistan. As a matter of fact, Canada, with many other countries has celebrated Eid two days before Pakistan. The animal for the relative in Canada is here in Pakistan for sacrifice. so can we slaughter the animal after their eid and before eid day in Pakistan?
JazakAllah

Answer
In regards to the aforementioned scenario, we need to know that the days of Udhiyyah are three. Indeed, we have a gap between countries in terms of the celebration of Eid. As far we are concerned this gap never has been more than two days, so in the scenario in which your relatives have given your instruction of carrying a Qurbani on their behalf, this can be done the day on which you celebrate your Eid in Pakistan.
“To do the Qurbani on the 10th is better, but one can do it on the 11th and the 12th also” (Fatawa Mahmodiyyah, Vol 17, Pg 450, Darul Ifta Jamiah Farooqiyah- Extracted from ‘Raddul Mukhtar, Vol 6, Pg 316)
It’s mentioned in ‘Badaius Sanai’:
“If a person is in one city and his relatives in another city, the person writes or instructs to his relatives to sacrifice and animal and do Qurbani on his behalf, so according to Imam Abu Yusuf RA the place in which the Qurbani will be done will be taken into consideration.” (Badaius Sanai Vol 6, Pg 311, Darul Kutub Alamiyah)
From the above statement, it is clear that the Qurbani will be valid and the place in which the Qurbani will be done will be taken into consideration, regardless of Eid Salaah has taken place or not in the other city or country in which the relatives are.
Also, even though it’s permissible to send the Qurbani or give instructions to be done in another city, we shouldn’t forget that the actual Sunnah is to do the Qurbani ourselves with our hands.
Allamah Fakhrud Deeen Zayla’I have mentioned: “Is preferable to do the Qurbani with our hands if we know the method because the primary act of reward is a person carrying it out himself” (Fatawa Mahmoodiyyah, Vol 17, Pg 501, Darul Ifta Jamiah Farooqiyah)
Only Allah knows best.
