Question

Assalamu Alaikum Mufti Saab.

I am in need of your guidance regarding the payment of my due Zakah.

I started earning in  August 2017. I haven’t paid for my Zakat since then. Alhamdulillah, my salary is 8500 AED per month. I saved around 7000 AED per month excluding all my expenses. Kindly help me out with the detailed calculation to date and the payment of Zakat of all this duration.

JazakAllahu Khair.

Answer:

Zakah is paid at a rate of 2.5% when you possess the amount of Nisab for a year[1].

August 2017 – February 2020 = 30 months

Pay Zakah for 30 months:

7000 AED x 30 = 210,000 AED

Therefore:

2.5% of 210,000 AED = 5250 AED owed in Zakah

Only Allah knows best
