Question

Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh,

I am a premedical student, what resources are there for me to learn Islamic bio/medical ethics?

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيْم

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer

There are many titles in Arabic that discuss Medicine according to the era of the particular author. The following are some of the books available in English:

  1. “Medicine of the Prophet,” also known as “Prophetic Medicine” authored by Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah.

  2. “Avicenna’s Medicine,” authored by Ibn Sina who is also known as Avicenna.

  3. “Medieval Islamic Medicine” written by Ibn Ridwan, a translation of which is available.

  4. “Medicine of The Prophet” written by Imam Suyuti.

Only Allah SWT alone knows best.
