Question:

Hope you are in best of health and imaan, my brother is a delivery driver at a Chinese takeaway wherein the poultry is haram. They also sell pork will it be okay for him to be a delivery driver?

Answer:

Bismillah

One should work in such an environment where his income is 100% halal. Two conditions needs to be found to determine if the work is lawful or not;

  1. The nature of the work is lawful

  2. More than 50% of the income is halal.

Sahl bin Abdullah raḍyAllāhu 'anhu (may Allāh be pleased with him) has said, “Salvation depends on three things eating halal, fulfilling obligations and following the sunnah of the Holy Prophet ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him)”. (Maariful Qur’an p.419 v.1)

The income from him being a delivery driver will be more than 50% halal as he will be delivering halal products as well however he should look for such a job where it does not entail him touching or handling haram meat. But then again instead of sitting around one should work and by means of necessity it will be permissible to work in such an environment.
