Is it permissible for a Muslim whose financial condition does not allow a goat to be sacrificed on eid uz zuha to slaughter poultry on that day in lieu of goat?

One is not asked to do Qurbani of chicken if he is not able to do wajib Qurbani. If the Qurbani of other animals like chicken, bird etc would have been valid, it must have been done in the poverty-stricken days of the Prophet and his companions.
