The Rainbow Quraan

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta Azaadville

Question:

I would like to find out if there is anything against using the rainbow Qur’aan

Answer:

A rainbow design/theme on a Quraan is added with the intention of beautifying the Quraan. Fundamentally, it is permissible to beautify a Quraan and use such a Quraan.

However, in this day and era, the LGBTQ movement has made rainbow colours their symbol with which they recognize themselves.  Furthermore, sale of these Qur’aans is promoted in ads with phrases such as “more fun to read, etc.” The Qur’aan was not revealed to be read as fun or as entertainment. Thus, due to these negative connotations, it would be preferable that one avoids using such a Qur’aan, so as to avoid resemblance and becoming desensitized with such symbols.
