Providing An Accounting Service To An Insurance Company

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta Azaadville

Question:

Is it permissible for an accountant to offer his accounting and tax services to an insurance broker?

Answer:

All forms of insurance are Haraam in Shariah due to it containing the element of gambling and interest. It will not be permissible to derive any income from an insurance company in lieu of one’s services since the income from such a business is impermissible. Secondly, offering one’s services to an insurance company is tantamount to assisting in the disobedience of Allah d which has been categorically prohibited in the Quraan Sharif, hence one should avoid such an employment.
