Q: What criteria is used when determining whether a person in debt can receive Zakaah?
1. If the person owns a house and a car, will he be expected to dispose of either or at least to downscale?
2. If he has a house which is sufficient for his family but it is in a more affluent area will he be expected to sell and move to a cheaper area?
A: 1. No. It is not necessary for him to sell assets that he requires.
