Q: If I am undertaking a journey and the time for salaah has set in eg. zuhr, may Idrive to the next town and read qasr salaah?

A: Yes, you may drive to the next town and read Qasar Salaah. If you missed that Zuhr Salaah you need only make two Rakaats Qadhaa (FataawaHindiya V1 P141)

If driving to the next town will cause you to miss the Salaah, then that is not allowed and you should read the Salaah immediately.
