Q: I have got a job as a Health Inspector, however the position was given to me while I used a falsified diploma. I have been working for five years, I am good at my job, however my wife had four misscariages that made me think of my life and found that maybe I am getting haram money from this work, I decided to leave the job, but I come from a poor family and my mother heard my decision to leave the job and told me “If you leave the job I will not forgive you till the end of life”. Please advise the way forward as I am confused and need help.
A. Lying on the resume and false diplomas and the earnings are two separate issues. It will not be permissible to lie on the resume or give a false diploma. This is deceit which is forbidden. Although the person has lied on the resume or gave a false diploma, the income will be Halaal because the income is being derived from a permissible source.If you are doing your job properly, then do not leave. The miscarriages is a separate issue.
