Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

I am a house wife. Though educated but never gone for work. My husband has a lot of work pressure n we were in a dilemma whether to quit this job n go for another company or not. So I did istiqara for the same. In the dream I saw that I have gone for the job interview (not my husband) and the interviewer has misbehaved with me n I come out of the room n tell my husband. My husband gets very angry. Can u pls let me know if their is qair or shar in leaving the present company that my husband is working.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

At the outset, it is important to point out that it is preferable for one to perform Istikhārah for himself/herself. Hence, you should request your husband to perform Istikhārah himself.

It is not necessary that a person’s heart inclines towards one of the options and is satisfied with it when carrying out Istikhārah. At times, a person’s heart may not have any inclination in spite of carrying out Istikhārah multiple times. In such a situation, since a person has supplicated to Allāh for good and has handed over his affairs to Allāh, he should go ahead with the matter. In-Sha-Allah, he will find good in taking that decision. If he faces difficulties in it, then he should understand that Allah had destined that for him.[1]

If your husband is confused or perplexed, you may help him with the Istikhārah.

If the Istikhārah that you carried out was with some prejudice, then you should continue carrying out the Istikhārah, but with a balanced mind and see what conclusion you come to.

If the Istikharah was carried out with a balanced mind, then there are negative signs in your Istikhārah. It is thus advisable not to continue with his job. However, if it is difficult for him to find another source of income, he should continue his present job until he finds an adequate and suitable alternate source of income.
