Does separation between the husband and wife invalidate the Nikah?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

My question is if husband and wife are angry at each other and talk thru email or thru skype and they stay in this state for more than 4 months will their nikah reamin valid?  If it becomes invalid what to they must do to get back together

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

The mere separation of the husband and wife for four months or more does not invalidate the Nikah. The Nikah will still remain intact.[1]
