Is it permissible for us to keep Quran and hadeeth application in our phones? Why do people still commit sins in Ramadhan? I commit sins after repentance, can I repent again?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

I have some queries to make, kindly reply to them as you did not replied to my query about taqleed.

1. Is it permissible for us to keep Quran and hadeeth application in our phones. As phones may be containing some other stuff like unislamic videos and images and chats. Also phones are sometimes carried to toilets as well. Kindly reply in the light of refrences.

2. If shaitan is caged during ramadan, then why is it people still commit sins. I myself get sinful and bad thoughts in my mind especially during salah. Is there any way to avoid such thoughts?

3. If i do tauba for a sin and commit it again, will i be repented if i do tauba again?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

  1. It is advisable not to enter the toilet with a phone with Qur’ān and Ahadith apps on it. However, if the verses of the Quran are not displayed on the screen, then it is permissible to enter the toilet with the phone.[1]
  1. From your query we understand that you are under the assumption that people sin because of Shaytan. However, there are many other reasons why people sin, for example following one’s Nafs (carnal desires), bad habits and the evil people around him. Therefore, the fact that Shaytan is caged during the month of Ramadhan does not mean that people will cease to sin. Yes, it is relatively easier to avoid sin in the blessed month.[2]
  2. One should not become despondent of the mercy of Allah Ta’āla. Consider the following Ayahs and Hadith:

Translation: Verily Allah forgives all sins. Undoubtedly, He is the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.” (Qurān 39)

Never despair of His mercy. Allah Ta‘ala says in another verse:

Translation: Say (on My behalf), ‘O servants of Mine who have wronged their souls(by committing sins) do not despair of Allah’s mercy. Surely, Allah will forgive all sins. Surely, He is the One who is the Most-Forgiving, the Very-Merciful.’

Sayyiduna ‘Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says:

Translation: Abu Bakr al-Siddeeq (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: “There is no one who commits a sin then purifies himself well and stands and prays two rak’ahs, then asks Allah for forgiveness, but Allah will forgive him. Then he recited this verse: ‘And those who, when they have committed Fahishah (an indecent act) or wronged themselves with evil, remember Allah and ask forgiveness for their sins; — and none can forgive sins but Allah — and do not persist in what (wrong) they have done, while they know’ [Āl ‘Imrān 3:135].” [Sunan Abi Dawūd]

As human beings we are bound to err repeatedly. However, the challenge and dictate of our Imān is to sincerely seek forgiveness every time we err and try never to repeat the sin. If we get caught in our weakness, repent again. A time will come one will resent the sin.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
