Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

1) We understand your situation. What exactly is your query?

2) Your love for Umar Radhiallahu Anhu is a great expression of your affection towards deen. May Allah accept and instill the qualities of Hadhrat Umar Radhiallahu Anhu within you. Some of the outstanding qualities of Hadhrat Umar Radhiallahu Anhu were as follows:

  • Hadhrat Abdullah Bin Masood Radhiallahu Anhu praises him in this manner:

“Verily, I loved ‘Umar with such love that indeed I feared Allah. Were I to know that ‘Umar loves a dog, I would have loved it. I wished that I was the servant of ‘Umar until I died. Indeed, everything, even the trees felt his absence. Verily, his acceptance of Islam was a conquest, his migration was a victory, and his reign was a mercy.”[1]

  • The Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam also says about him:

“Allah Azza Wajal has placed Haq (truth/rightness) in the heart of Umar and on his tongue.”[2]

  • The Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam also mentioned:

Allah’s Messenger () said (to `Umar), “By Him in Whose Hands my life is, whenever Shaytan sees you taking a path, he follows a path other than yours.”[3]

  • It is further mentioned:

“This is Umar Bin Khattab; this is a person who does not appreciate wrong (batil).”[4]

  • Imam Ahmad Bin Hanbal Rahimahullah mentions in “The virtues of Sahaba”:

“Umar Radhiallahu Anhu had two black lines on his face due to excessive amount of crying.”[5]

Hadhrat Umar Radhiallahu Anhu enjoys honor and respect because of his devotion, dedication and sacrifice for Deen. Simply doing MBA[6] and becoming a CEO[7] won’t make you like Umar Radhiallahu Anhu.

We advise you to first fulfill the basic fundamentals of Islam. Commence by:

  • Being punctual in your salah. No obstacle should stop you from your salah.
  • Wake up for tahajjud prayers and exert yourself in the worship of Allah.
  • Make it a regular habit to fast.
  • Improve your akhlāq and conduct and bring it in line with the Sunnah.
  • Accept criticism and reform yourself.
  • Exercise extreme patience and perseverance in any challenge you may face.
  • Abstain from all forms of Haram.

These are the basic qualities that will lead you to the closeness of Allah and gain his happiness. To inculcate these qualities, stay in the company of the pious and consider training under a spiritual guide. We make dua Allah makes it easy for you to instill these illustrious qualities within you that the blessed Sahaba once possessed.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
