Making Dua for a non-Mahram

I WAS IN LOVE WITH A GIRL FROM SMALL AGE (WHEN I WAS STUDYING IN 6TH CLASS) SHE WAS LIKE A ROLE MODEL TO ME, I WAS DEEPLY IMPRESSED BY HER ACADEMIC RECORDS, SHE USED TO TAKE GOOD POSITION EVERY YEAR, AND THAT WAS INCREASING MY LOVE FOR HER SHE IS THE DAUGTER OF MY FATHER’S FRIEND, UNFORTUNATELY

I COULD NOT GET MARRY WITH HER DUE TO SOME REASONS.

NOW I AM MARRIED.SHE IS STILL SINGLE, MY QUESTION IS THAT CAN I PRAY FOR HER GOOD LIFE AND HER PERMANENT SUCCESS IN THE LAST WORLD?.ARE MY ALL PRAYERS WOULD BE ACCEPTABLE TO ALLAH THAT I WILL DO FOR HER IN MY SALAT , IN FUTURE WHEN SHE WILL GET MARRY TO SOME ONE, EVEN THEN CAN I PRAY FOR HER OR NOT?

IS THAT ALLOWED IN ISLAM?

IN SHORT CAN I PRAY FOR THE GIRL TO WHOM I LOVE? WHEN I AM MARRIED AND SHE WILL GET MARRY IN FUTURE? CAN I REMMER HER IN MY PRAYRS OR NOT?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Dunya is a temporary abode wherein man is tested by Allah Ta’ala.  Those who connect themselves with Allah Ta’ala and refrain from His disobedience will enjoy the happiness and joy of this world and the Hereafter.

You have stated that you are married but wish to make Dua for a non-Mahram female because of your love for her. In terms of Shariah, it is impermissible to glance at or think about a non-Mahram. [1]Making Dua for her will lead you to entertain thoughts about her in your mind. [2]

Shaytaan is man’s open enemy. He tries his utmost to break up families and relationships.  One of his main methods is through affection towards the opposite gender.  Even after one is married, if the mind is not safeguarded from contemplating over other women, this will deprive one from attaining comfort through one’s lawful wife. As a result, fights between spouses will initiate, causing life to end up in misery and grief.

In conclusion, make a sincere effort to take the girl in reference out of your mind totally.  Do not make Dua for her or else your love for her will increase.  Through this great struggle and effort, Allah Ta’ala will grant you His love.

We make Dua that Allah Ta’ala grant you success in Dunya and Akhirah. Ameen.

 الثَّالِثُ: ذَكَرَ بَعْضُ الشَّافِعِيَّةِ أَنَّهُ كَمَا يَحْرُمُ النَّظَرُ لِمَا لَا يَحِلُّ يَحْرُمُ التَّفَكُّرُ فِيهِ لِقَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى – {وَلا تَتَمَنَّوْا مَا فَضَّلَ اللَّهُ بِهِ بَعْضَكُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ} [النساء: 32]- فَمَنَعَ مِنْ التَّمَنِّي كَمَا مَنَعَ مِنْ النَّظَرِ، وَذَكَرَ الْعَلَّامَةُ ابْنُ حَجَرٍ فِي التُّحْفَةِ أَنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنْهُ مَا لَوْ وَطِئَ حَلِيلَتَهُ مُتَفَكِّرًا فِي مَحَاسِنِ أَجْنَبِيَّةٍ حَتَّى خُيِّلَ إلَيْهِ أَنَّهُ يَطَؤُهَا، وَنَقَلَ عَنْ جَمَاعَةٍ مِنْهُمْ الْجَلَالُ السُّيُوطِيّ وَالتَّقِيُّ السُّبْكِيُّ أَنَّهُ يَحِلُّ لِحَدِيثِ «إنَّ اللَّهَ تَجَاوَزَ لِأُمَّتِي مَا حَدَّثَتْ بِهِ أَنْفُسَهَا» وَلَا يَلْزَمُ مِنْ تَخَيُّلِهِ ذَلِكَ عَزْمُهُ عَلَى الزِّنَا بِهَا، حَتَّى يَأْثَمَ إذَا صَمَّمَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ لَوْ ظَفِرَ بِهَا، وَإِنَّمَا اللَّازِمُ فَرْضُ مَوْطُوءَتِهِ تِلْكَ الْحَسْنَاءَ، وَقِيلَ يَنْبَغِي كَرَاهَةُ ذَلِكَ وَرُدَّ بِأَنَّ الْكَرَاهَةَ لَا بُدَّ لَهَا مِنْ دَلِيلٍ وَقَالَ ابْنُ الْحَاجِّ الْمَالِكِيِّ: إنَّهُ يَحْرُمُ لِأَنَّهُ نَوْعٌ مِنْ الزِّنَا كَمَا قَالَ عُلَمَاؤُنَا فِيمَنْ أَخَذَ كُوزًا يَشْرَبُ مِنْهُ، فَتَصَوَّرَ بَيْنَ عَيْنَيْهِ أَنَّهُ خَمْرٌ فَشَرِبَهُ أَنَّ ذَلِكَ الْمَاءَ يَصِيرُ حَرَامًا عَلَيْهِ اهـ وَرُدَّ بِأَنَّهُ فِي غَايَةِ الْبَعْدِ وَلَا دَلِيلَ عَلَيْهِ اهـ مُلَخَّصًا وَلَمْ أَرَ مَنْ تَعَرَّضَ لِلْمَسْأَلَةِ عِنْدَنَا وَإِنَّمَا قَالَ فِي الدُّرَرِ: إذَا شَرِبَ الْمَاءَ وَغَيْرَهُ مِنْ الْمُبَاحَاتِ بِلَهْوٍ وَطَرَبٍ عَلَى هَيْئَةِ الْفَسَقَةِ حَرُمَ اهـ وَالْأَقْرَبُ لِقَوَاعِد مَذْهَبِنَا عَدَمُ الْحِلِّ، لِأَنَّ تَصَوُّرَ تِلْكَ الْأَجْنَبِيَّةِ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ يَطَؤُهَا فِيهِ تَصْوِيرُ مُبَاشَرَةِ الْمَعْصِيَةِ عَلَى هَيْئَتِهَا، فَهُوَ نَظِيرُ مَسْأَلَةِ الشُّرْبِ ثُمَّ رَأَيْت صَاحِبَ تَبْيِينِ الْمَحَارِمِ مِنْ عُلَمَائِنَا نَقَلَ عِبَارَةَ ابْنِ الْحَاجِّ الْمَالِكِيِّ، وَأَقَرَّهَا وَفِي آخِرِهَا حَدِيثٌ عَنْهُ – صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ – «إذَا شَرِبَ الْعَبْدُ الْمَاءَ عَلَى شَبَهِ الْمُسْكِرِ كَانَ ذَلِكَ عَلَيْهِ حَرَامًا» اهـ.

فَإِنْ قُلْت: لَوْ تَفَكَّرَ الصَّائِمُ فِي أَجْنَبِيَّةٍ حَتَّى أَنْزَلَ لَمْ يُفْطِرْ فَإِنَّهُ يُفِيدُ إبَاحَتَهُ؟ قُلْت: لَا نُسَلِّمُ ذَلِكَ فَإِنَّهُ لَوْ نَظَرَ إلَى فَرْجِ أَجْنَبِيَّةٍ حَتَّى أَنْزَلَ لَا يُفْطِرُ أَيْضًا مَعَ أَنَّهُ حَرَامٌ اتِّفَاقًا (رد المحتار، ج 6، ص 372، سعيد)
