Please clarify the hadith about reciting SUB HAANAKA ASTAGHFIRULLAAHAL LATHEE LAA ILAAHA ILLAA HUWAL HAYYUL QAYYUM in menses

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

Please clarify the following hadith.

i do know about the first istighfarr to be read…….but i have not heard about reading “astaghfirullah” only…. also, what does “masjalisul abraar” mean?

It is related in a hadeeth that Rasoolullah  (صل الله عليه و سلم) said if a woman reads (at her time of haidh- menstruation).

سبحانك استغفر الله الذي لا إله إلا الله هو الحي القيوم

SUB HAANAKA ASTAGHFIRULLAAHAL LATHEE LAA ILAAHA ILLAA HUWAL HAYYUL QAYYum

70 times at the time of every salaah or any other istighfaar even if it be astagfirullah only, then she will get the reward of reading 1000 rakaats of salaah, 70 of her sins are forgiven , her status is raised in the eyes of Allah and for every letter of istighfaar, she gets a noor and for every vein in the body, one hajj and umrah is written! (masjalisul abraar, taken from tasheelul fiqh book 9 , compiled by jamiatul ulamaa transvaal).

Answer

Assalāmu `alaikum Warahmatullāhi Wabrakatuh,

We could not allocate the narration in reference. However, seeking forgiveness in general holds great reward in the sight of Allāh Ta’ala. Nabi (Salallahu alayhi wassalam) used to seek forgiveness more than seventy times on a daily basis, as is narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (Radiyallāh ta’ala ‘anhu).

Majalisul Abrar is the name of a book.
