Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

In one of the fatwas you mention that it is allowed to do ivf treatment. However we have heard from someone that it is not allowed. So what is right?

Answer

IVF, or In Vitro Fertilization, is permissible according to Shari’ah when a woman experiences great difficulty in conceiving a child. However, the following conditions must be observed:

a) Only the sperm of the husband may be used

b) A surrogate mother may not be used (The sperm of the husband must be inseminated into his wife only and no other woman)
