I have some relatives; they do not follow sunnah at all. On the top of that they say it is not important at all, following sunnah is not necessary, it is just a personal choice. What should I say to them? JazakAllah Khair
Allah Ta’ala says that we must hold firmly to that which Nabi (Sallallaahu
Alayhi Wasallam) has brought to us and that which he has prevented us from,
we must abstain thereof. Allah Ta’ala goes further on to say that we must
fear Him. Verily Allah is very severe (stern) in metting out His punishment.
(Juz 28)
In the two Aayaats of Sura Aali Imraan (3), Aayat 31 and 32, Allah Ta’ala
states, ‘Say (O Muhammad), if you love (honour) Allah then follow Me, Allah
will love you and will forgive your sins and Allah is most forgiving and
Merciful. Say (O Muhammad). Follow Allah and His Rasul, if you turn away,
then verily Allah does not like the disobedient.’
In a Hadith, Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) says that we should
adhere to his Sunnat and the Sunnat of the Khulafaa-e-Raashideen.
Hence, it is crystal clear that it is necessary upon us to follow the Sunnah
of Nabi (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) so that we gain success in both
worlds.
