I am working in Capgemini India as an Infrastructure Analyst. My job role involves maintaining windows server and ensuring the system remains up at all times of my company’s client. Unfortunately the client of my company is an Insurance Company called BUPA and I am taken on this project to provide Server Support. Is it permissible for me to work on this project? Will I not become among the supporter of something that is impermissible in sight of Shariah? Please assist me with the answer as soon as possible. I need to communicate with the manager by coming Monday if it’s i’m permissible to work and I may look for some other compatible project.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
We commend you on your sensitivity of earning a halal income.
Nabi (ﷺ) said:
طَلَبُ كَسْبِ الْحَلَالِ فَرِيضَةٌ بَعْدَ الْفَرِيضَةِ
Translation: Earning of Halal income is an obligation beyond other obligations.
(Shuabul Imaan, Baihaqi)
It is not permissible to work as an Infrastructure Analyst specifically for the insurance company, as this would entail assisting in insurance activities. [1]
Allah Taa’la says:
وَلَا تَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْإِثْمِ
Translation: “And do not assist one another in sin”
(Surah Al-Maaidha, Aayah 2)
May Allah Taa’la grant you halaal income and keep you away from haraam. Aameen.
