As Salaam walaikum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuhu,
Is it haraam to say ” Bharath Mata ki jai”
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.
Bhaarat Mata is the national personification of India as a Hindu mother goddess. She is usually depicted as a woman clad in a saffron sari holding the Indian national flag, and sometimes accompanied by a lion[1]. This motto is often portrayed as a patriotic statement. However, it is derived from Hindu traditions.
As Muslims, we are sensitive to our beliefs. Hence, it is necessary to renounce all forms of polytheistic practices. Accordingly, it is not permissible to make such statements[2]. Making such statements is akin to shirk.
And Allaah Ta’aala Knows Best.
