Alcohol in paracetamol syrup, is it permissible to consume?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

assalamu alaikum

is it permissible to use paracetamol syrup which contains absolute alcohol (9,5)?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Dear Brother,

In principle, alcohol derived from grapes and dates are not permissible and are considered impure. If the alcohol is derived from a source other than grapes and dates and it is not used in vain or as an intoxicant such as the alcohol found in medicines and perfumes, then it will not be unlawful.

Therefore, you may use the paracetamol syrup.
