Feeding for Missed Prayers During Ramadan: A Dilemma for an American Couple

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I am an American old man and sick. I am always in and out of hospital all the time. I did not fast the month of Ramadan. My wife has missed 3 days. We want to feed people for our missed prayers. Will my wife has to feed 60X3=180? Would I have to feed 60X30=1800 which I can not afford? How should I do it?

Bismillaah

A: Since the fast was not broken there is no kaffarah for that. You only need to keep the qadhaa for the fast that has been missed.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
