Making masah instead of washing the face in wudhu

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: In wudhu I wet my hands and immediately pass them over my face. My whole face becomes thouroughly wet and I do this three times. However I haven’t been cupping the water or splashing on my face. Is this sufficient?

Bismillaah

A: No. Wetting the hands is insufficient. Cupping the water and pouring it on the face is important.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
