Cat’s Vomit

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askmufti.co.za

Q: Regarding vomit of cats. I know it’s impure. How do you purify it when it goes on the carpet? Is the stain impure after you have cleaned it? I heard if you just clean cat vomit once and it goes away it’s pure.

A: The vomit of a cat is Najaasate Ghaleezah.

The only way a carpet can be cleaned from impurity is by using a vacuum machine that can suck up the water, because each time the area is washed, the water spreads into the carpet and with it the impurity also spreads. Therefore, you need to use a machine that will suck up the impure water thus making sure that with each suck the impurity is also removed. The suction serves the purpose of rinsing. Wash the area and absorb the water with the vacuum machine. Do this at least five times to ensure the carpet becomes Paak.

If the stain remains after cleaning, it will be Paak.
