I normally wear hijab, but not in front of them as i find it difficult to be in hijab all the the time. I’ve been told by a scholar that it is important for me to wear hijab in front of them as they are not my children. Should we be living in a seperate home?
A: Haamidaw wa Musalliyaa
In the particular instance described in your query your husband’s sons from another wife are regarded to be your mahram by virtue of your marriage to their father . In terms of Shariah it is not compulsory for you to adopt hijab before them. Accordingly, there shall be no need to stay in separate homes.
However, as a measure of precaution, since the sons are youthful, it is preferred that some ‘distance’ be maintained between yourselves.
