Missing Eid Salaah while travelling

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulUloomTT.net

Q. If someone has to travel to another country during the month of Ramadan and he chooses to miss the Eid salaah in the condition of traveler because there is no muslims in his city but he has the opportunity to change his ticket in order to be present for the Eid salaah in Trinidad. Is it Fard for him to be present in Trinidad for Eid or he can continue in that country missing Salatul Eid.

A. If remaining in that city is a need and it is essential, then the person can stay as a traveler and miss his Eid Salaah. However, if there is no need to remain in the city and the person can (very easily) return to be a part of the Eid Salaah and khutba, then he should do so. Eid is indeed a great and blessed day, and a very joyous occasion. Allah has given this day so that Muslims can celebrate it and express joy and happiness. Hence, one should make all efforts to be part of it.

And Allah Knows best.
